Green meter, then let go
How to dig fossils
Checked 2026-10-12. Sources are listed at the bottom of this page.

Project Mirvy's rule is to hold the shovel at a dig site and release while the meter is green. A linked player guide records three timing rounds, rapid clicks after each Perfect, and a Flawless result for three Perfects. This is a player record, not a developer guarantee of a fossil on every attempt.
The motion
- Equip the shovel and interact with a marked dig site.
- Watch the moving marker and release inside green; follow the remaining round prompts.
- Read the result before moving on. A coin result does not necessarily include a fossil.
- Check the creature's fossil counter before selling finds you still need.
The linked Common Trilobite pickup capture shows +6 coins, +30 XP, and 3/5 fossils. Those are pickup rewards, not its sale price or a fixed reward for all digs.
Boat travel and shovel digging coverage are different systems. An unreachable island and a site rejecting your tool need different checks. See shovels and boats.

Questions
Does a Perfect guarantee a fossil?
No guarantee is documented. Player records also include coin-only results.
Which shovel should I buy?
Compare recorded digging coverage on the shovels page. Bronze and Silver prices conflict across sources, so check the actual shop before spending.
